Members of the Apecoin DAO community have approved a governance proposal that will fund a Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC)-centric news publication called Bored Ape Gazette with $150,000 for the first year. While the Bored Ape Gazette has been up and running since June 1, 2021, the site operator promises to “better inform the community” with plans to “intensify” Bored Ape news coverage.
Apecoin DAO will fund a news site focused on bored monkeys for 12 months
Apecoin DAO members have hired their own news publication for the next 12 months in accordance with the governance proposal AIP-70. According to the proposal, the operator of the news site The Gazette of Bored Monkeys says the publication has “grown exponentially over the past year.”
The operator of the publication insists that it is “committed to creating a trusted source of information for this community and I would like to extend operations to ongoing research, analysis and reporting across the ecosystem”.
The Bored Ape Gazette’s sole editor and publisher estimates it will cost $150,000 for the next 12 months of operation and the funds will go to “coverage of all things ape will increase from 1 to 2 stories a day at 3 to 5”. The Bored Ape Gazette will focus on keeping the Apecoin DAO community “better informed” as the owner intends to write “bi-weekly newsletters and in-depth reports.”

The Bored Ape Gazette plans to conduct interviews with the authors of the AIP and interviews with community members debating specific governance proposals. The Apecoin DAO community and governance system uses the apecoin crypto-asset (APE). The digital currency is currently the 34th largest crypto by market capitalization and APE’s overall market valuation today is just over $2 billion.
Over the past 30 days, APE has gained 44% against the US Dollar, but is down 74% from the crypto asset’s all-time high price of $26.70. The cover of The Bored Ape Gazette delves into plenty of BAYC-centric news, in general, that deals with topics related to all things ape.
News coverage includes categories such as “Famous Apes”, “Club News”, “Roadmap 2.0” and “Remarkable Sales”. Apart from BAYC, the post also covers topics like Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC), Meetbits, Yuga Labs, Bored Ape Kennel Club (BAKC), and NFT markets.
Similar statistics on the web show that The Bored Ape Gazette has a global ranking of 865,175 websites and had 52.4,000 visits. Visits to the site are down 45.68% from the previous month, with Taiwan and the United States being the main traffic regions for the news site.
“Over the next year, we believe The Bored Ape Gazette will become the go-to source of information for everyone in this community,” says The Bored Ape Gazette AIP. “With the support of the DAO, the Bored Ape Gazette website will become a 24-hour style news site.”
Additionally, the official Apecoin DAO Twitter account Explain this week that The Bored Ape Gazette’s IPA had been adopted and thanked everyone for participating in the governance process.
