Ethereum (ETH) tenth shadow fork went live on July 26 at 11:45 UTC, bringing the network one step closer to transitioning to a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism.
Ethereum’s tenth shadow fork is live
The phantom fork went live 26 hours ahead of schedule with no significant issues reported and is setting the stage for the Goerli testnet merge.
The shadow fork is testing some similar builds that developers would use in the Goreli Merge.
Ethereum developer Parithosh Jayanthi said the shadow fork happened earlier than expected due to an increase in the hash rate of ETH, which sped up the process.
Goerli/Prater testnet merger
Tim Beiko announced the dates for the latest testnet merger – Goerli/Prater testnet Merge – and said it would take place between August 6 and August 12.

The merge will begin after the activation of Bellatrix, a Prater upgrade, which is scheduled to take place on August 4 at epoch 112260.
Once activated, the Goerli testnet would merge with Prater between August 6 and August 12 when Goerli would reach a difficulty of 10,790,000.
Ethereum Foundation said NopeOperators must “run both an execution and consensus layer client to stay on the network during and after the merge.”
