The University of Tokyo plans to offer several study programs that will take place within the metaverse. The courses will be offered to high school students and adults who wish to participate in the evolution of technologies.
The metaverse is an area that has seen notable adoption in recent years. The space attracts some of the biggest brands that want to energize user interactions through digital technologies. Facebook also rebranded to Meta late last year to continue Metaverse offerings.
The University of Tokyo will offer courses on the metaverse
The University of Tokyo metaverse programs will begin towards the end of this year. A report published on July 23 by a local publication said that metaverse programs would not be offered by the dedicated faculty of the institution that provides these degrees. Instead, programs will fall under the faculty of engineering and engineering-related graduate schools.
Your capital is in danger.
Students who complete these courses will receive certificates. The project launched by this university will serve to solve the problems of lack of knowledge of advanced technologies and digital transformation among the working staff.
University officials said studying in the metaverse will create a situation where anyone can access knowledge about engineering and information science. The announcement did not mention crypto and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). These two sectors have become very popular within the metaverse and have become popular brands within the metaverse.
High school students pursuing these programs will receive an introduction to the metaverse space and learn about potential roadmaps to access work in science and engineering-related fields. These students will receive content both online and through face-to-face classes. The university will also push for women to be part of the programs.
The metaverse in Japan
Japan has shown a positive stance towards the Metaverse. In recent months, local citizens have also found notable use cases for metaverse technology. A report from Japan Today said that a Fukuoka support group known as JACFA has unveiled a virtual support space within the SecondLife Metaverse platform.
In April, a report indicated that 3,800 students from 29 NSG College League trade schools in Niigata would hold their commencement ceremonies in 2022 in the Metaverse. The event was virtual to make it easy for everyone to attend due to COVID-19 restrictions.
